Many students also attend after-school enrichment activities and tutorials and could very well end up sitting in front of a screen until 5:00 p.m.<br><br>Using a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=qj6AIczvDhg\">mood meter<\/a> check <a href=\"https:\/\/heartmindonline.org\/resources\/boost-emotional-intelligence-with-the-mood-meter\">tool<\/a> could easily indicate how much some students are struggling, understandably feeling tired and low after a long day. Many will also experience <a href=\"https:\/\/www.healthline.com\/health\/eye-strain-headache\">eye strain headache<\/a>, which occurs when focusing on a singular task for too long\u2014such as staring at a computer for long hours. Focusing on light that may be either too bright or too dim tires the eyes due to overuse.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter size-full\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1000\" height=\"563\" src=\"https:\/\/www.rism.ac.th\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/08\/ScreenFatigue2.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-17434\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.rism.ac.th\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/08\/ScreenFatigue2.jpg 1000w, https:\/\/www.rism.ac.th\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/08\/ScreenFatigue2-300x169.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.rism.ac.th\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/08\/ScreenFatigue2-768x432.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1000px) 100vw, 1000px\" \/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.healthline.com\/health\/eye-strain-headache\">Eye strain headache<\/a> is a common occurence when focusing on a singular task for too long\u2014such as staring at a computer for hours on end. One strategy that both teachers and parents can implement with their young ones is the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.psychologytoday.com\/us\/blog\/the-right-mindset\/202010\/the-20-20-20-rule-prevents-the-hazards-screen-stress\">20-20-20 Rule<\/a>. For every 20 minutes spent looking at a screen, take a 20-second break to relax your eye muscles, and look at something 20 feet away. It\u2019ll give the brain a much-needed break. Setting up an alarm as a reminder to get up and move around could also prove helpful. This activity linked <a href=\"https:\/\/www.natureplaywa.org.au\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/08\/GreenVscreen_withInstructions_Outlines.pdf\">here<\/a> can be adapted at home to help balance the two.<br><br>Like the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.psychologytoday.com\/us\/blog\/the-right-mindset\/202010\/the-20-20-20-rule-prevents-the-hazards-screen-stress\">20-20-20 Rule<\/a>, \u2018Green Time vs Screen Time\u2019 is a simple practice really. However, it\u2019s one that can be easily forgotten or challenging to follow, like any other rule. Online learning has its physical and emotional costs.
