Kindergarten to Grade 5<\/em><\/h4>\n

Theatre for students in Kindergarten through Grade 5 provides an exciting introduction to the arts through imaginative play, storytelling, and creative movement. Starting in Kindergarten, students explore basic theatre concepts like character, setting, and creative movement, building a strong foundation for their artistic journey. As they progress, students in each grade engage in age-appropriate activities that focus on character development, expression, and collaboration, helping them develop essential skills like empathy, communication, and self-confidence.<\/p>\n

By Grade 5, students refine their skills in storytelling, improvisation, and stagecraft, preparing for more advanced performances and creative projects. They explore different performance styles, including folk dances and classical theatre forms, fostering a deeper understanding of cultural diversity and artistic expression. Students in grades 6 to 8 are invited to explore creativity, teamwork, and self-expression. Through <\/span>MS Drama<\/b>, students collaborate on scenes, using improvisation and literature to develop problem-solving and performance skills. The course can be repeated each year to build confidence and drama skills.<\/span><\/p>\n

Creative Writing<\/b> allows students to explore poetry, short stories, and playwriting while developing their writing skills. High school theater students are offered the opportunity to explore creativity, develop confidence, and build essential life skills. Open to all, the courses focus on collaboration, self-expression, and the joy of storytelling. Theatre isn\u2019t just about acting; it\u2019s about growing as individuals and gaining skills like problem-solving, communication, and critical thinking.<\/span><\/p>\n

Courses include <\/span>Drama<\/b>, which introduces students to basic acting skills and teamwork, and <\/span>Advanced Drama<\/b>, where students dive into theatre genres, character development, and performance techniques. <\/span>Theatre Technology<\/b> gives students a behind-the-scenes look at the technical aspects of theatre, while <\/span>IB Theatre HL\/SL<\/b> offers a deeper exploration of theatre-making through projects like a Director\u2019s Notebook and original ensemble creations.<\/span><\/p>\n

Whether onstage or behind the scenes, the high school theater program provides a creative, supportive environment where students can thrive.
