Leading up to the international competition, the team engaged in a series of academic exchanges and presentations that helped shape their work and sharpen their communication on the global stage.<\/p><p>As part of their preparation, RIS was honored to welcome <strong data-start=\"896\" data-end=\"964\">H.E. Mr. Jean-Claude Poimboeuf, Ambassador of France to Thailand<\/strong>, and distinguished members of the <strong data-start=\"999\" data-end=\"1029\">French Embassy in Thailand<\/strong> for a special visit on <strong data-start=\"1053\" data-end=\"1082\">Thursday, October 9, 2025<\/strong>, at the school\u2019s Minburi campus. The centerpiece of the morning was the presentation by <strong data-start=\"2028\" data-end=\"2054\">iGEM Thailand\u2013RIS 2025<\/strong>, a team of high school students preparing to represent Thailand on the world stage.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<div data-particle_enable=\"false\" data-particle-mobile-disabled=\"false\" class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-b958c7c e-flex e-con-boxed e-con e-parent\" data-id=\"b958c7c\" data-element_type=\"container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"e-con-inner\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-6070295 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"6070295\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p data-start=\"2140\" data-end=\"2550\">During the session, the students shared their research on <strong data-start=\"2198\" data-end=\"2249\">engineering a plastic-degrading enzyme (PETase)<\/strong> from a bacterium into plant tissue\u2014developed as a proof of concept to help reduce the environmental impact of microplastics. The delegation engaged actively with the team, asking thoughtful questions and commending the students for their scientific understanding, creativity, and presentation skills.<\/p><p data-start=\"2552\" data-end=\"3056\">Following the presentations, <strong data-start=\"2581\" data-end=\"2601\">Dr. Jim O\u2019Malley<\/strong> expressed his gratitude to the delegation for their visit and for supporting student innovation and cross-cultural collaboration. The meeting concluded with a <strong data-start=\"2761\" data-end=\"2803\">tour of the secondary school buildings<\/strong> led by <strong data-start=\"2811\" data-end=\"2896\">iGEM Thailand\u2013RIS 2025 faculty advisors Ms. Nicole Sabet and Mr. Oliver Fernandez<\/strong>, followed by a <strong data-start=\"2912\" data-end=\"2970\">closing ceremony, gift exchange, and group photographs<\/strong> at the Peace Pole\u2014symbolizing friendship and cooperation between Thailand and France.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<div
