Professional Development & Research
RIS supplies both annual and monthly funds for every teacher to pursue professional growth experiences to enhance teaching and learning at RIS. On-site workshops, seminars, and courses are hosted regularly as part of a professional culture of collaborative sharing and support. RIS teachers take part in national, regional, and international conferences. They travel to NESA, EARCOS, and other world-renowned conferences and workshops to learn about how to implement current best practices such as an inquiry approach to problem-based learning, visible thinking strategies, and the development of Professional Learning Teams (PLTs) centered on the needs of each learner.
The latest research plays a vital role in informing RIS teaching practices and can contribute greatly to improving approaches to learning. RIS uses internal and external sources of data to research and support initiatives and practices, including collecting evidence to monitor the development of RIS students, classes, grade levels, and other sections. External research, educational literature, and visits from experts also help inform teaching practices and support innovation and initiatives.
