FIRST RUAMRUDEE FILM FESTIVAL

RIS Film Studies Presents the First Annual Ruamrudee Film Festival (2025)

RIS High School Film Studies students have spent the second semester of the 2024–2025 school year embracing their love of cinema while enhancing their understanding of films from both analytical and creative standpoints.

“Throughout the course, students have explored the key conventions of filmmaking across a range of genres and applied this knowledge to the creation of their own original short films. These celebrations in student storytelling and creativity premiered at the 1st Annual Ruamrudee Film Festival.”

Under Mr. Mendelson’s guidance, students in RIS Film Studies spent the semester immersed in the many dimensions of filmmaking—screenwriting, directing, cinematography, acting, editing, and post-production. The course provided not only hands-on technical experience but also encouraged students to collaborate, take creative risks, and refine their storytelling skills.

On Thursday, May 22, 2025, RIS proudly hosted the 1st Annual Ruamrudee Film Festival in the Performing Arts Center (PAC). Complete with tuxedos, gowns, a red carpet, Q&A sessions, and the Phoenix Film Awards, the event offered a true cinematic celebration of student achievement. Leading up to the festival, student-created trailers were displayed across campus screens, building excitement throughout the school community.
